Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a public speaker, consultant, columnist syndicated, speaker, author, and TV presenter. In 2001, she founded The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the company to NRT for $66 million. Then, shortly after, she exited from the company. Corcoran is one of ABC’s initial Shark Tank investors. As of now she has appeared on each season of Shark Tank. By February 2020, she had signed 53 deals. The largest of these was a $350,000 investment to Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was second in the family of 10 children, and was raised in Edgewater. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly moving between jobs and the next during Corcoran’s childhood. At times, her family relied on the delivery of food for free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as one who occasionally drank too much and did her mother a disservice and sneer, especially when he'd been drinking. Corcoran struggled through her schooling and later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran went to an Catholic elementary school in her area and started high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
